’The White Lotus’ Cast and Crew Tease Utter Shocks in Season 2 and a Possible Season 3
The second season of the anthology series The White Lotus will premiere on HBO on October 30. In a recent interview, however, creator Mike White was asked about a possible third installment, and he wouldn’t shut it down right away.
The hit series had the world premiere of its second season in L.A. on Thursday, where White was asked by Deadline if he would be interested in a third season, to which he responded:
“We just turned in our last episode to the network yesterday, so it’s hard to think about the next race. But if we did, I think it’d be fun to maybe go to a whole different continent. You know, we did Europe, and maybe Asia, something crazy like that, that would be fun.”
There’s one thing he knows, though. If he’s coming back, so is Jennifer Coolidge, the only link between both seasons, and who is also a dear friend of White’s:
“Jennifer is my friend and everybody loved her in the first season, and I was like, ‘I can’t go to Italy without Jennifer.’ And maybe that’s still the case. Like, maybe you can’t go to Japan without Jennifer, either. There are so many fun actors we’ve worked with so far, so it’s just kind of like who’s available.”
The new cast includes, among many others, Napoleon Dynamite‘s Jon Gries, who teased that the second season might even top the first in terms of shocks. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he said:
“[The new season] is going to shock people quite a bit more than the first, the last two episodes particularly… a few faces are going to be frozen in total shock.”
White also added the following:
“I don’t know if it’ll be as scatological as that but I think the finale has some water cooler moments for sure.”
The season 2 cast of The White Lotus also includes F. Murray Abraham, Adam DiMarco, Beatrice Grannò, Meghann Fahy, Tom Hollander, Sabrina Impacciatore, Michael Imperioli, Theo James, Aubrey Plaza, Haley Lu Richardson, Will Sharpe, Simona Tabasco, and Leo Woodall. It will air the first of seven episodes on October 30 on HBO.
Season 1 was very well received by audiences and critics alike, and earned 20 Emmy nominations, including 10 wins. It also helped launch Sydney Sweeney’s career into Hollywood stratosphere, among other actors. Season 2 will be traveling from Hawaii to Italy, but it seems like the social satire tone from the first season will carry over perfectly to the new installment. You may check out the trailer here:
Miguel Fernández is a Spanish student that has movies as his second passion in life. His favorite movie of all time is The Lord of the Rings, but he is also a huge Star Wars fan. However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as authors like Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
